Blood and Wormwood

Blood and Wormwood

Dramatis Personae

his is the page where you come to learn more about all the curious inhabitants of this quaint little community that we like to call...The Fantastical Bestiary. The Fantastical Bestiary ran for about three years (imagine that!) and featured a numer of characters who were to reappear in Foreig Devils. Anyway, this page is here just in case you're curious about those good old days before we switched over. All the information below is as accurate as I remember to make it, but there are occassions (fairly frequently, in fact) where the info revealed in the actual comic strip contradicts the info in the cast biographies. If this happens, just assume that the comic is correct and that I'm an idiot for screwing it up here. Also, if you want to bring my mistake to my attention and tell me to me face that I'm an idiot, please do so at Great.Brain@Mailcity.com.

Hiding in Dens and Rocks: Special Guest Stars

Special guest stars are all those loveable folks who pop into the strip for a few episodes and then vanish again without a trace. Will we ever see them again? Perhaps! Since most of these folks aren't really that important, only a select few really merit their own bio pages. The rest get a mention and a permanent place in our hearts as compensation.

Soccer Mom- A retired valkyrie. Soccer Mom is Hedwig and Lotte's mom and, besides an unwavering devotion to her daughters, not much is known about her. Ain't nobody gonna tell her how to raise her babies right. Probably drives an SUV.
Cygor 5000- A gay robot, Cygor 5000 was Wilhelm's spiritual guide until he was killed by The Secret Masters!
Los Pantelones Del Fuego- An omen of doom, Los Pantelones Del Fuego appear dancing in the sky before any major disaster. The most horrible thing you'll ever see. Teriesius seems to know a lot about them.
Despair- An anthropomorphic personificationtion. Kinda looks like Shaft.
Gigantomastia- Queen of the amazon warriors that roam the endless wastes on the outskirts of the Featureless Void. Her tribe includes Chlamydia, Fallopia, Clitoria, and Judy.
Cathooloo - A Lovecraftian monstrosity. Called out Hell's Army so that he could conquer a dimension with a background.
Heinrich and Gisela Von Mueckenfueck- Wilhelm's grandparents. Gisa is interested in "The Dukes of Hazzard." Who knew?
The Incestuously Gay Gristle Brothers-Just your average pair of incestuously gay child-murdering cannibals.
Dr. Jean Jacques LeMard- A psychologist and member of the Academy of Sciences in Paris, LeMard was chosen to be Nestormolester's adopted father and mentor. He's also in the employ of the Secret Masters.
Deacon Jack Cheese-A minister in the Church of Churchology, a bizarre pseudo-religion that failed to gain a foothold in the Featureless Void. Kind of a huckster. Wears a really bad toupee, and a leisure suit underneath his sacerdotal robes.
The Kodama-Little Japanese forest spirits that live inside the blue flower. Haven't done much yet.
Cthleen-Mikey's editor on "The Daily Necronomicon." Hates "The Fantastical Bestiary," wants to replace it with "Living in Greytown." Changed her mind after Mikey accepted her indecent proposal. Wears too much mascara.
Cardinal Sin- Head of the St. Aloysius Order of Assassins, strong arm of the Church of Churchology. Totally blind. Tried to kill Deacon Cheese but missed. Doesn't know it.
His Holiness- Mysterious head of the Church of Churchology, has connections to The Secret Masters.
Kitty Scratch- A succubus, former lover of Beezle, locked in the basement as punishment by her grandfather, broke out through the plumbing, grew as a person.
Old Scratch- The devil. Supposedly cares about Kitty.
Grandmama- The devil's grandmother. Tries to keep the peace.
Scutters and Sboej- Jackalopes, house servants to Old Scratch, killed in a fit of rage by Old Scratch.
Ambassador Wumpus-Jackalope, hick from Scrotem County who serves as its ambassador to the Featureless Void.
Froguert Elks-Foot- A gulon, a bully from Corpus Callosum School for Girls, defeated by Tiffany in a Dance Dance Revolution showdown, beaten to death by Po-Wing Wang, returned to Iceland in a bag.
Fungi Gumrot- An oni, bought Tiffany from a child prostitution ring because he just wanted company, got a make-over, found true love.
Punji-An aswang, good-time girl who hangs around Bangkok strip clubs, frequently gives blow jobs.
Conventioneers- Just your average, everyday gaggle of easily-provoked nerds. In all liklihood, currently dead, having been beaten to death by the Arrogant Nerd-Hating Jock Convention of America.
Todd- A satyr, Isis' boyfriend, glimpsed occasionally. Part of the jock convention that attacked Melvin as he was escaping from FluffCon.
The Hat of Pure Reason - Floating hat that dispences logical advice
Ryoko Maximoto - a pixie. Competed against Tiffany in the dance Dance Revolution World Championship. Tried to throw lye in Tiffany's face. Later exploded for undisclosed reasons.
Ming ZeWhang - a naga. Represented China in the Dance Dance Revolution World Championship. Didn't do too well owing to a lack of limbs.
Capt. Leroy Jackson - a centaur. Represented the United States in the Dance Dance Revolution World Championship. Broke his leg by foul play. Got shot.
Sir Neville Hefferbottom - a sprite. Represented England in the Dance Dance Revolution World Championship. Cried like a baby when Tiffany defeated him.

Mr.Blunt - An ogre, another business associate of The Anaconda.
Madam Xing - A penangulan, madam of Thai whorehouse "Vulvarama."

amiliars is a fairly crappy quasi spin-off comic that appeared in place of The Fantastical Bestiary a couple times. It's mostly notable for having been a sort of proto-Witchprickers comic, so you'll see some overlap in the two casts. But, just in case you were wondering, here's the cast of the original Familiars comics:

Insects in the Shape of Horses: Main Cast

Syrynth, a witch
Ilemauzer, a bat
Holt, a toad
Jarmara, a polecat
Griezzel Greedigut, a cat

Sores and Boils: Supporting Cast

Candi- Another witch. Suggests that Syrynth take her familiars to the Black Sabbath to be "fixed." Wears revealing clothing. Suckles her familiar.
Sugar and Sache-Candi's familiar, a rabbit. Likes to be suckled.
The Devil-The Dark Prince, Father of Lies, Lord of the Flies, a man of infinite taste. Makes token appearance at the Black Sabbath, but really he's just in it for the nookie. Has a stone phallus.
Ivan-Dribblesdorf merchant.
Doktor Eck-Dribblesdorf doctor.
Radu-Dribblesdorf school teacher.
Father Damien Blackpit-Dribblesdorf priest.
